Prayers Needed

I know it has been forever since I have posted on this blog, but this is an urgent request. Our sweet friends, almost, 4 month old daughter has been sick for the last 2 months. She has been in and out of the hospital, received numerous blood and platelet transfusions, had a bone marrow aspiration, a bone marrow biopsy, a central port placed, and just recently a liver biopsy. The results of the biopsy were not positive and they are being sent to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital for further testing. Please, please keep sweet Bellamy, and her parents, in your prayers. They are needed now, more than ever!

Yes, I know that I have been slacking terribly on this blog. We have had a lot going on since Mothers Day though. Mommy had a trip to NYC with a friend for The National Stationery Show, fun, fun, fun! We have had gymnastics classes, birthday parties, baby showers, and day camp. Mommy has also been working very hard on her jewelry shop and supply shop. Momma has got to make some extra money....two preschool tuitions to be paying soon!

Happy Anniversary (Take 1)

Today is our official 5 year anniversary...according to the state of VA. :) We had already been planning our wedding to take place in September of 2005, with many deposits paid, when we found out Scott was going to be activated (with the army) for a few months. In order for us to keep our finances in order while he was gone we figured we would go ahead and make it official before he left. So on March 26, 2005 we tied the knot in a small ceremony of just us, my parents, the hubs parents and the pastor (an old family friend).

Although we have two anniversaries a year we typically really only celebrate our September date. But we do always like to at least make a point to acknowledge this day since it is officially the day we became official. :)

Misery loves company

So apparently my kiddos, the ones that normally hate to share, thought it would be good to pick up a nasty virus and bring it into the house to spread around. Poor Logan got a double whammy, not only did he pick up this wonderful upper respiratory virus but he also had a double ear infection. Yep, he hit the jackpot!

So we have been laying low around the house since Friday and I think cabin fever has officially started. How is it that kids can be terribly sick and still have the energy to run around the house and bounce off the walls? (And by bouncing off the walls I mean bouncing off the walls, they have been playing a lot these last few days with their hop balls. HA!) All the while, mommy and daddy feel like they are on their death beds just trying to keep up. Uggh, weekend please come with some relief.

The Magical Self-Cleaning House

What? You don't have one of those? Well, neither do I but I think my hubs might think we do. As I was busy running around cleaning the house and doing laundry, in anticipation of the ski trip my darling dear was getting ready to go on, the hubby was blissfully sitting in the kitchen catching up on his newspaper (ie. comics). As I move from one thing to the next so were my two little shadows. How many times must I yell, don't do that, leave your sister alone, stay out of mommy's stuff, before I get some backup?

Apparently my sweet husband never got the memo that we are not the Jetsons and things don't magically clean themselves. Or maybe I just need to build a Rosie in my spare time....ha ha, spare time. :)

We have been sick, all of us. Well, we all were sick for the first two weeks of this month at least and then just when I think it is all over...Logan and I are sick again. I got some nasty virus that left me with high temps and body aches. And Logan, well, he got the hives from whatever virus he had. And he got the hives BAD! So bad they put him on prednisone (sp?) and benadryl. Thankfully, the medicine is doing its job and he is on the mend, plus since he is on a steroid he is starting to look like the incredible hulk, kidding. I am also slowly returning the world again.

I feel like such a bum since I have yet to accomplish anything this month. Well, besides keeping up with what is happening in my "friends" (see below) daily life. :) Hope everyone is doing well. I hope to have another post up tonight on Needs vs. Wants.

Please leave Virginia alone for a while. My poor hubby was in his parking lot at work this morning when he hit a huge patch of ice, as did the co-worker behind him. Thankfully no one was hurt! Apparently you thought all the work we did this weekend clearing out the mess you left us wasn't enough. Maybe you could also send out a note to businesses on how to properly clean their parking lots when they expect their employees to arrive on time in icy conditions.

My pregnant sister-in-law had some bleeding this morning and headed for the hospital. They told her she had an infection and that the baby was ok. She is not in the clear however and now we sit and play the waiting game, praying that her body does not abort the baby. Please, if you are so inclined, pray that this is just a hiccup in the pregnancy and that everything will be fine from here on out.

Rockin' Weekend

This weekend we headed to Frederick, Maryland to see the Imagination Movers! An early 3rd birthday present for the kids. We left yesterday so we wouldn't have to deal with the stress of driving the at least 2 1/2 hours both ways in one day. When we got checked in to the hotel daddy and the kiddos took a little dip in the indoor pool, which the kids and daddy greatly enjoyed. Then we got cleaned up and headed out to dinner at Macaroni Grill...YUM! Macaroni Grill, will you please come and open in Richmond, Va??? Pretty please?? :)

Today we got up, got ready and ventured out to get some lunch before the show. I think that everyone in the restaurant was going to the show because there wasn't a grown up in there without a child.

Once we got to the show we got a few overly priced souvenirs and settled into our seats waiting for the concert to start. I must tell you if your kids like the Imagination Movers this show is a great one to see! The kids and the adults all had a great time listening to the music. I would definitely take the kids to see them in concert again. I shockingly got a lot of pictures this weekend, so here are just a few.

Halloween 09

So these pictures are a little overdue, but at least it isn't Christmas yet! HA! So this is the first year the doodles went trick or treating and they loved it! We actually went trunk or treating at two nearby churches and I think that this will be a continued tradition. It meant a lot less worrying for mommy about weirdos and it probably took us a lot less time too.

Instead of spending $50+ on costumes that they won't wear for long I decided to make their costumes and I think they turned out pretty well. They were PB&J this year and they can actually wear everything again so big plus for me. You can't see it in the pictures but their hats have jelly and peanut butter jars on them. They were a huge hit while we were out so I think I am going to continue with some kind of this and that theme the next couple of years.

I was nominated by my lovely friend Amy-Jo for the honest scrap award, and in my true fashion this comes about a week late (sorry). The idea behind this is to share 10 things about yourself that other bloggers may not already know and then nominate 7 bloggers for this as well. So without further ado this is ME. :)

1. I am technologically challenged. I haven't always been this way though, only in the last 3 years has my knowledge of all things technical gone down hill. Hmmm, wonder what could have happened to cause that?! Seriously though, sometimes I look at my cell phone and try to remember how to use it which is extremely sad seeing as I used to work for a cell phone company.

2. I am a napper. This also began about 3 years ago and I haven't been able to shake it since then. 3 or 4 times a week I am snoozing right along when the kiddos are, even though I have a ton of stuff I should be doing. It does, however, make mommy much more enjoyable for afternoon and evening.

3. I stink at play. Really, my kids always want me to play cars or blocks or whatever and I get down on the floor and am bored within minutes. Thankfully my husband is great at this and makes up for where I lack. Sometimes my mommy guilt kicks in and I feel awful about it but I have managed to divert them with books so I think it makes up for it.

4. I am the lollipop lady. I know you are probably picturing some old lady walking around with a bunch of hard candies right now but at any given time I usually have about 10 dum-dums in my purse and countless rappers. These little beauties are what helps me get through a shopping trip with both kids in tow.

5. I pretty much live in t-shirts and shorts. Unless I have errands to run or an appointment to go to my attire is just that. After the shower my hair usually goes up in a ponytail and it stays that way the rest of the day. Oh, and I don't put a stitch of makeup on on those days either. Sometimes I feel sorry for the delivery and mail people that see me when I answer the door.

6. I am ready for the kiddos to go to preschool. Is that horrible to say? It is still another year away but I am looking forward to the time that I will get during those few hours a week to run errands and work on jewelry. I'm sure that I will miss them terribly when the time comes but for now I am looking forward to the future.

7. I just recently bought tickets to go to my first concert in years and about had a breakdown when I couldn't order them online or over the phone. Finally I got through though and now in November I will sitting a few rows back from these guys.....

Oh yes, I know you are jealous! HA! My first concert in years is the Imagination Movers! This is part of the kids birthday present and I think I am looking forward to it more than anyone, can't wait to see the look on the kids faces :)

8. I am really bad about taking pictures. My mom can attest to this. There are so many cute things that the kids do on a regular basis and I am always to scatter brain to get it on camera. Doesn't this usually only happen when you are on your third child?!

9. I worry a LOT! Sometimes about the most ridiculous things too. It actually can be debilitating sometimes because all that worrying can make it hard to sleep at night. I am working on it though and trying to let the little things go as much as possible.

10. I have a slight inkling to want another baby. Well, it is a little more than slight but I know that it is not the right thing for our family right now. Plus the possibility of having another set of multiples is a little scary so I will just wait for my brother and sister-in-law to have babies and hopefully that will satisfy my wants. :)

I know it has been a long, LONG time since I last posted but things have been very busy around here. Between a little stay cation (in Lynchburg), to the hubby getting a new car (thanks to cash for clunkers), to a 30th birthday, to working on replacing our entire deck which is 38'x13', phew, weekdays have been for resting.

So here are a bunch of pictures from the last few weeks. :)

Basically you are driving through a huge piece of farmland with your windows down feeding animals, there were deer, Watusi, llamas, camels, pot belly pigs, basically anything that wouldn't really bite. These animals were hilarious though because they would try to take the bucket out of your hand and for those not holding the bucket (me and dad) we almost peed our pants laughing at my mom.

These idiots are actually a mom and dad and what you can't see is that they are both holding a child in their lap. Yep, they went through their sunroof to do this. I wonder what kind of Evil Knievel kids they are going to grow to be.

Really it was not safe to do this, there were massive hills covered in gravel. I just wanted to throw something at these people.

It's Just Another Meltdown Monday...

I wish it was Sunday. I don't know if it is the heat or if there is a full moon soon but the kiddos have been something else here lately. Today was probably the worst morning that we have had though lately. Logan at one point cried so hard I thought he was going to make himself throw up and all over me telling him that 8:30 in the morning was way too early for a lollipop. Grrrr!!!

Things have been very busy lately, between my etsy shop, the hubby's work (civilian and military) and our normal weekend craziness I think that we are all ready for a break. Last weekend we went to Busch Gardens and the kids had a blast. They LOVED the new Sesame Street section but it is definitely way too small for all the kids that were in there. Thankfully all those kids that had to be in the new section left little to no lines on all the older kids rides so they had a blast on them. Mom and dad are coming this weekend so I am hoping that I can get the pictures off their camera to show you all the fun we had.

I know I have been a horrible blogger lately but I am hoping that with us finally being home this weekend I can finally get caught up on some things and have more time to write. Hope everyone is doing well!

As I am making lunch for the doodles today I see Ella zoom by... pushing Logan in the doll stroller !! Then they decided he should go in their shopping cart and take a spin. They took turns back and forth for about 15 minutes and had me cracking up the entire time!!

My new favorite song that has kept me sane when things are getting tough around here. Thanks Hootie!

Sorry for the lack of posts but we have been dealing with illness and potty training...yes potty training!!! We all have had a yucky cold and now poor Ella has Fifth Disease (or slap face..I know lovely right!). And both kids have decided that they are ready to potty train which I am and I'm not ready for since it adds extra stress to my already stressful day. Hopefully, I can get some pics up soon and have a longer post. Maybe I can get some me time in this weekend since it is Mothers Day. :)

Up On My Soapbox

So yesterday afternoon the family and I are enjoying a relaxing afternoon in the comfort of our air conditioning since it was 90+ degrees when we hear a horrible racket outside. So the hubby looks out to find out was going on but didn't see anything immediately except a bunch of our neighbors standing near the street and a lot of cars stopped. After a few minutes of being completely oblivious to the fact we finally realize our mailbox is gone! Our neighbors saw the whole event unfold before them. One of the lovely drivers that like to speed down our street had gone off the road, tried to correct, went airborne, took out our mailbox and our neighbors mailbox, then managed to regain control and came to a stop sideways on the road out front. He then proceeded to back up and go along his way. Luckily one of the nice people in our neighborhood saw it happen got his license plate and I believe said something to the guy who eventually turned around and came back almost 5 minutes later. This driver was very lucky that he did not hit that guardrail you can see in the first picture because he likely would have ended up down the embankment in the creek.

Now here is my soapbox, or I guess you could call it that. We have been living in this house for about 3 1/2 years now, it is nice family neighborhood with an elementary school and high school and although you see the double yellow lines in the picture the speed limit is 25. I think maybe 50% of the people that travel this road daily go the actual speed limit which completely infuriates me. And many of those drivers speeding are actually the bus drivers that carry the children to and from school everyday, or the parents trying to get their kids there on time. Even though there have been several incidents like this to happen on our street the police presence has not increased. I even felt like one of the officers we spoke to yesterday could have given a hoot about the incident and was ready to get on with their day.

So what is a law abiding, tax paying resident supposed to do? Well, for the time being I guess I must not allow the kids to play outside or get the mail when there is any traffic coming. Who knows when some wackjob on their cell phone, going 10 to 20 miles over the speed limit around a pretty decent curve is going to plow you over. So here is my PSA for the day ~ If you or anyone you know likes to speed in residential areas, where children play, slow the F*&% DOWN!!! Thank you, and we now return you to our regularly scheduled program already in progress.

Reasons Why Crayola May Not Be That Wonderful

So we bought a big bag of Crayola products a couple weeks ago and one of the the things in the bag is color explosion paper in black. Basically you are just using the markers for their moisture to take away the black and reveal the color underneath. Cute idea but the black does come off when it gets wet. Case in point, my lovely children that thought they needed a little more fiber in their diets.

Thank goodness it is non-toxic! And yes I know it says 6+. Never been much for following directions. ha ha

This week weighs heavy on my heart. Thursday April 16th marks the second anniversary of the horrible events that took place at Virginia Tech. While I am not an official Hokie, I graduated from Radford, my blood will always run maroon and orange. I lived in Blacksburg, VA for six years and VT was a huge part of my life. My husband actually attended VT for the first part of his college career and was actually a VT cheerleader...no laughing. :)

While life continues to go on I don't want anyone to forget the special people that were lost that day. So this morning I got up and got ready to go to my doctors appointment to have my biopsy done and wouldn't you know there is no swelling in my lymph node. So I decide to keep the doctors appointment and see what she says. The doctor was great and did a thorough exam and said everything looked great and that there wasn't much she could do if it isn't swollen. I'm happy that I didn't have to have any invasive procedures done this morning but darn if I don't feel like a broken car that you take to the mechanic only to find out that they can't "recreate" the problem so you just have to wait until you completely break down.

In other news we got Ella's ears pierced this weekend! (pics to come soon) She was great, the first ear didn't even faze her and the second one they did I think that the snap noise upset her and she cried for a whopping 30 seconds. She is starting to look grownup now which my hubby isn't too excited about, but she just looks so darn cute with those little diamond studs in. Now hopefully people won't ask me if I have two boys so often!!

Anxiety

Why is it that anxiety sneaks up on you at the weirdest times? Well, at least for me anyway. Last night Logan was having some good dreaming and made the strangest noise. The hubby quickly went in to check on him. He was perfectly fine just really into whatever he was dreaming about. When the hubby returned I lost it. I don't know if it was from all the stress of them both being sick last week and I was dealing with it on my own or just the stress I am under about my upcoming doctors appointment on Monday. It was 12:30 in the morning and there I am having an anxiety attack. Today is better though, just exhausted, anxiety attacks really take a toll on my body...I feel like a ran a marathon last night. Thank goodness for blogs! I can get everything out and hopefully now won't have to deal with it anymore. :)

Oh and I know someone is going to ask about my doctors appointment so I will go ahead and explain that quick. I have a swollen lymph gland under my arm that has been there for a few months. When I went to doctor last week for being sick I told her about it so now I get to have a biopsy done on it. Hopefully it just turns out to be a clogged duct but I will just be happy when it is all said and done.

Quick Update

And I mean quick!

- Hubby is finally home!!! YAY!!!
- Logan has had a double ear infection as well as strep throat this week
- Ella has had strep throat this week
- Mommy had to have blood work and a chest x-ray done to find out what is going on with her. Chest x-ray came back all clear, still waiting on blood work results. Doc said could possibly be mono! Lovely.
- Now I am off to bed to snuggle with the hubby and blow my nose a million more times...sexy I know!

Never Ending Story

Well, it happened. We are all sick now and I have a feeling it might be the flu. I thought it was a stomach bug at first but it seems to be getting worse and we have fevers too....grrrrr. Just a little more than 4 days until the hubby comes home. Hopefully we will all be on the mend by then. And hopefully it will warm up some outside so I can open the windows and get rid of these nasty germs. Well, I am off to cuddle two very demanding kiddos and then an early bedtime for all of us. I'll blog more once we are feeling better.

Long Weekend

Well, this isn't going to be a very long post but I wanted to thank my wonderful parents for coming up again this weekend to keep me and the kiddos entertained. It was a wonderful surprise and a much needed break from the "single" parent role.

This morning my poor little man woke up with a fever and was crying inconsolably and my parents and I both knew something was really wrong. So he and I loaded up in the car and went to the ER to find out he has a double ear infection. Poor guy, I don't remember the last time I saw him feeling this bad. And now I am starting to feel yucky, hopefully it is just allergies though.

Well, I am exhausted and ready to turn in but just wanted to post real quick so enjoy the rest of your night all!

Sorry for the lack of blogging of the last week or two. Things have been very busy around here. Hubby left last Friday for army reserve annual training and in the week leading up to that he was pulling some nasty hours for work. Now we have been without him for 4 days and have 12 more to go and mommy is exhausted! These kids wear me out!!! I think my son has been acting up some because he misses daddy and doesn't understand he won't be home before dinner. He is just tired of mommy and wants the big kid daddy to play with. Before hubby left the kids were in our room with us while he was packing and decided that they wanted to go along too...(please ignore all the mess in the background)

Hopefully I can update some more in the next few days but for now I am heading to my bed to relax and unwind. Happy St.Paddy's Day all!

One Week

In one week we have gone from the city being shut down for almost a foot of snow and record low temperatures to it being 80 degrees and the windows being open. Anyone else find that particularly weird?!

Ladies I Need Your Help!

I posted this on my other blog too, but I really need some input and I know you ladies will be a great help!!! .......

I received an email from one of my favorite local bead stores asking me to donate jewelry or beads to the The "Glass Slipper" Project and I am just dying to do it. The "Glass Slipper" Project is a part of the local "Cinderella Dreams" project which ensures that no young woman is denied her chance to experience a quintessential event of adolescence – attending her Prom. Necklaces, bracelets, earrings--anything sparkly is fair game and will be given new life by the girls who wear them on prom night.

Now my only problem is what to donate. It has been a long time since I have been in high school (we won't go there!) and I have no idea what the teenage trends are right now. I need your help ladies to decide what to make! Please take a look at my shop, Ella Scott Jewels, and see if you think that the there is anything in there a teenager would like. If not, give me some suggestions please. I just got some great candy colored stones in that I haven't gotten to use yet but can always use on this project. Any and all input is greatly appreciated, but hurry I really need to get these done this weekend...they are due by next weekend! THANKS!!!!

Let it snow, and snow, and snow, and snow!

We finally got snow! I haven't seen a snow like this since I was in high school so I am enjoying it quite a bit! We took the kiddos out this morning and they were loving it. My hubby even got a snow day...yippee! I'm not exactly sure how much we got because of the drifts but it is somewhere between 8 and 12 inches. Needless to say things in the city aren't moving quite as fast as they usually are right now, and that is just fine with me. So we are just going to enjoy the rest of the day relaxing, playing some more and drinking a little more hot chocolate. I hope everyone else is staying warm, it is really cold out there.

I don't know if you can see it or not, but that is a tree that fell overnight that is completely covering our driveway. Good times!

What's The Old Saying?

When the cat's away, the mice will play! Well, my new saying is... when the daddy is away the kiddies will drive mommy CRAZY!!!! Seriously, I don't know if they are getting back at me for daddy being out of town or if there is a full moon coming but they are in rare form and mommy is at the end of her rope. Calgon take me away to tomorrow morning when Granny and Grandpa come to help!!!!

Politics

So the hubby and I don't always see eye to eye on many political issues, okay a lot of political issues, but we usually just don't talk about it anymore more to avoid conflict. So it was no surprise Tuesday night when I refused to watch the presidents speech with him...he likes to be a nonstop commentator. So once the speech was over we started to flip through the channels to find something to watch but there were political overviews on just about every channel from this guy...the governor of Louisiana.

So I proceeded to ask in a joking but serious manner why is M. Night Shamalan talking about the president on all these channels? You should have seen the look I got! I just love pushing his political buttons!!!! :) They do look a lot alike though, don't you think?

My Babies Are Growing Up

I'm sitting here trying to remember how we went from this freshly painted nursery and just bringing them home to two two years olds with minds of their own and independence like you wouldn't believe. Today I removed their dresser to start the process of repainting their room to get it ready for their big kid furniture. Sitting there on the floor looking around at the bare walls and the two cribs it hit me, this is the end of them being babies. Soon they WILL be big kids, those beds will be here before I know it and it will be my responsibility to get them to sleep in them...since they will be coming when hubby is on annual training. There are no more planned babies for us in the future and it makes me a little sad, ok a lot sad, thinking about letting go of this phase of their lives. I know it is a process that everyone goes through, unless you are The Duggar Family, but for now I think I am just going to savor every little bit of baby I have left of them! :)

Please Pray for The Green Family

This weekend was a very heartbreaking weekend for the Green family. They had already lost one of their quads recently and unfortunately the remaining three needed to be delivered as well. At 22 weeks the babies were not viable and unfortunately could not survive on their own. Please keep Lauren and Josh and their families in your prayers during this very difficult time.
